Introducing our new team members

Careers

Friday 27 September 2024

L-R: Millie Paine, Rosie Margolis, Louis Dean, Helena Procopis, Teresa Hulme, Alyssa Knisley, Harry Ogden, Charles Godec

So far in 2024 we have welcomed lots of new faces to Crest, each coming from a range of different backgrounds and stages in their careers.

One route into Crest we offer is via our internship programme. Anyone can apply – we just ask that you’re at the beginning of your working career and have an interest in crime and justice. Past interns make up a large cohort of our current Crest contingent – fourteen of our current analysts, senior analysts and managers joined us as interns, which is testament to the success of the programme. We are very happy to be able to say that we have already welcomed three new interns in 2024: Helena Procopis, Charles Godec and Louis Dean.

Helena joined us part-time as an intern, while she was studying for an MSc in Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, writing a dissertation which explored body image concerns in men, using a meta-analysis to assess psychosocial treatment options. After completing her Masters, Helena has joined us as a full time junior analyst.

Louis also joined Crest as a part-time intern, whilst studying a part-time MA in Terrorism, Security and Society at King's College London. Louis has previously worked as a project officer at the Refugee, Asylum and Migration Policy Project.

Before joining Crest, Charles completed an MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism at University College London. Both Louis and Charles will be staying on at Crest as junior analysts from October.

As well as our interns we of course continue to hire permanent members of staff: Senior Analysts Millie Paine, Harry Ogden and Rosie Margolis, and Analysts Alyssa Knisley and Teresa Hulme.

Millie joined us from We Are Futures, a social impact agency focused on young people. Before that she was the Head of Sixth Form and a History and Politics teacher at an academy in west London.

Before joining Crest, Harry was an associate at public affairs agency H/Advisors Cicero, where he was political adviser to the Police Federation of England and Wales, supporting their political engagement and helping drive a series of campaigns to improve policing across the UK.

In her previous role, Rosie was a data analyst at Advance Charity, which helps women who have experienced domestic abuse and the criminal justice system rebuild their lives. Rosie holds an MSc in Public Policy from UCL. In her MSc dissertation, she focused on the importance of preserving family relationships for women to desist from reoffending.

Teresa, like Rosie, joined Crest from Advance, where she worked as a community keyworker. Before Advance, Teresa completed the Police Now graduate scheme, and was a police constable and a trainee detective constable for the Metropolitan Police Service. Teresa also holds an MA in Terrorism, Security and Society and King's College London.

Alyssa recently completed a PhD in Criminology and an MPhil in Criminological Research at the University of Cambridge, having designed and conducted an in-depth qualitative research project with 51 children and young people in alternative education provision across four regions of England about their experiences carrying weapons.

As you can see, our new team members are at different stages of their careers and have experience in different subjects, but they all share an interest in crime and justice.
