In recent months we've welcomed a number of new starters to the Crest Advisory team.
Four people have joined the consultancy side of the business.
Ollie Glick is our latest Strategy & Insight Manager. Ollie has experience at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) where he developed policies for speeding up transfers between prisons and hospitals under the Mental Health Act and liaised between prisons, NHS England and MoJ policy-makers. Most recently he worked for the Scottish Government managing the implementation of the Communities Mental Health Fund where he focused on early intervention.
Michèle Grace Bal joins us as a Senior Analyst, having previously worked as a research assistant at the Department of Crime Science at University College London (UCL) where she supported projects involving the Metropolitan Police. She has degrees in law, psychology and crime science; as part of her studies, she mapped assaults and robberies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the use of force by the New York Police Department. Michele is currently completing a PhD in security and crime science at UCL.
Two new interns have joined the team, Lucie Fittock and Catrina Bomford. Lucie recently completed an MSc in terrorism, security and society at King's College London where she researched the role of masculinity and gender in far-right extremist ideology. Catrina joins us from the University of Cambridge where she completed her BA and MPhil in classics. Catrina's thesis examined Archaic Greek lyric poetry, focusing on 'praise poetry', in which she analysed how social status and personal commemoration are represented in text.
We also have two new members of staff in the business support team.
Zainab Anifowose is taking up a new role at Crest as Senior Procurement and Finance Officer. Zainab was a procurement officer for brand technology platform Soreto and for the London Borough of Newham. Zainab works alongside our chief financial officer and business manager, helping to manage contracts and tenders and supporting sales across the organisation. She has a BSc in psychology from the University of Coventry and experience of working with young adults on their mental health.
Kaleb Tzeggai has joined our office management apprenticeship after previous roles in recruitment. Supporting our office manager Shayon Lynch, Kaleb will be working across IT, office finances and human resources.
We have also said goodbye to two members of the Crest team.
After nearly three years with us, Joe Caluori is leaving to take up the role of Director of Crime, Justice and Equalities at the National Centre for Social Research. We are grateful for the work Joe has done, in particular, leading our research on county lines, maternal imprisonment and most recently the relationship between social media and violence. We wish Joe the best of luck in his new role!
Arwa Syed, who has been with us since September as an intern, will also be bidding farewell. Arwa made an important contribution to our work with the Crown Prosecution Service and on police demand. We wish Arwa all the best for life beyond Crest.
Lastly, we want to say a huge congratulations to our Office Manager Marie Begasse who welcomed baby Clémence into the world last week. Big sisters Amandine and Elisabeth were ecstatic with the new arrival. Marie will be on parental leave until the summer; we wish her plein de bonheur, as a family of five.
